A veteran tag team is set to join AEW in the near future.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, known collectively as the Motor City Machine Guns, are two of the most successful wrestlers in TNA history with 2 World Championships, 3 Tag Team Championships and 11 X-Division Championship reigns between them. The Motor City Machine Guns wrestled in their final match for the promotion during the March 23rd tapings, losing to Bryan Myers and Eddie Edwards in a match that is set to air on April 18th.
Choosing not to renew their contracts, Sabin and Shelley became free agents on April 1st. According to a new report, they are in the process of becoming All Elite.
As reported by Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, the Motor City Machine Guns and AEW are working on a deal. It is also stated that although a deal is “not going to be finalised for a bit”, Shelley and Sabin have decided on their future and “a deal will be worked out.”
The former TNA Tag Team Champions have previously competed once in AEW when they teamed with Jay Lethal in a losing effort to FTR and Wardlow at All Out 2022.
New AEW Tag Team Champions To Be Crowned At Next PPV
At Revolution, Sting competed and was victorious in his final match. Reigning as the Tag Team Champion alongside Darby Allin at the time, the titles were vacated by Tony Khan and a tournament was established to crown the next champions. The conclusion of the tournament will take place at Dynasty on April 21st, which will see The Young Bucks and FTR battle it out once more to see who will become the first-ever 3-time Tag Team Champions. However, unlike previous encounters, this will be contested in a ladder match.
