Contracts held by professional wrestlers, especially those tied to AEW and WWE are a hot topic, even just days into 2023.
Every time that it’s reported that a contract is expiring, fans immediately start to wonder whether their favourite star might be jumping from one rival company to another. However, according to a new report it appears that two of AEW’s biggest stars and founders won’t be going anywhere.
The Young Bucks In Talks With AEW
The report from Fightful Select claims that the Young Bucks are currently in talks with AEW over new deals. The report states that details of the contracts, including terms and whether they have been signed are currently few and far between. Although word of the negotiations has spread through the locker room.
Fightul add that the prospective new deals would see them stay with the company for “quite some time.”
Matt and Nick Jackson are two of AEW’s Executive Vice Presidents having helped start the promotion alongside Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes who now resides in WWE.
The Young Bucks had something of a tumultuous 2022, famously featuring in the backstage brawl which followed All Out. Following the post-show media scrum, the brothers, along with Omega, got into a physical altercation with CM Punk and Ace Steel. Following the incident all involved were suspended, but the majority have since returned to work.
While The Bucks and Omega returned to action at Full Gear to take on Death Triangle, Ace Steel has left AEW and CM Punk remains on the side-lines. Although Punk’s triceps injury means he wouldn’t be able to wrestle regardless, it is widely expected that he will never appear in AEW again.
The Elite are currently in the midst of a ‘Best of Seven’ series with Death Triangle with the score tied at 3-3. The final bout is set to be a Escalera de la Muerte (ladder) match, on the January 11th episode of Dynamite.
