Top AEW Star Pulled From Event Due To Injury

Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite

The reason behind Eddie Kingston not appearing on the most recent episodes of AEW Dynamite or Rampage may have been revealed as the star was also pulled from an independent show because of an injury.

In recent weeks, Kingston has been at loggerheads with Ortiz, turning on his former ally after the pair lost to House of Black’s Malakai Black and Brody King on the January 11th edition of Rampage.

While the two seemed to go their separate ways after the loss, the following week Kingston attacked Ortiz with a steel chair.

On the latest Rampage, Ortiz issued a challenge to his friend, saying he’ll always stand with him, even if he has to stand against him to prove it.

Eddie Kingston unable to compete at DEFY YEAR6

Kingston was due to compete in a match against indie star Artemis Spencer at DEFY Wrestling’s YEAR6 event on February 12th. However, on the day, DEFY released a statement announcing that the star is injured and would be unable to make his scheduled appearance.

“[ BREAKING ]

“DEFY has learned that due to injury EDDIE KINGSTON will no longer be able to compete at tonight’s YEAR6.

“EDDIE is super bummed and we wish him a speedy recovery. We’ll have him back for a future event!

“DON’T FEAR, Defyance- a stacked card remains, 6 YEARS LOUD!”

According to F4WOnline, Kingston suffered the injury on Wednesday February 1st, but since he didn’t appear on AEW TV that week, it is unclear how it came about.

Kingston’s next match is set for NJPW’s Battle In The Valley on February 18th. There, he will face off against Jay White in The Switchblade’s first appearance since being defeated by Hikuleo in a ‘Loser Leaves Japan’ match at New Beginning in Osaka.

While the injury might put the match in doubt, the Mad King seems confident he will be there and took to social media to mock White’s loss.

“Hahahahahaha I see you have lost not just Japan but your mind. So I will take just your health. There is no boss to be a favorite too here hahahahaha”
