Samoa Joe has a huge amount of admiration for Sting.
With AEW Revolution just over a month away, The icon is preparing for his final encounter inside the squared circle. Although Sting and Joe are unlikely to face off in AEW, the two veterans are very familiar with each other as they have teamed up and compete against each other in TNA.
With the Hall of Famer also able to choose pretty much anyone as his final opponent, would the AEW World Champion give The Icon one last shot at becoming the champion once more?
Speaking with WhatCulture, Joe stated that he would be happy to defend the title against the former World Champion and detailed what a lasting legacy the man will leave:
100 percent. Would always give Stinger a shot at the World Championship, you know? But when you talk about Sting’s career in a whole, I think iconic. It’s a commonly used term. Really, when you dip into your head and you think of the iconic figures in professional wrestling, Sting, I mean, top four? Maybe even higher than that. He is kind of the embodiment of a lot of wrestling fans’ best memories. He’s there, just from the painted face to the splash in the corner to the (Scorpion) Death Drop.
I mean, so many memories, great memories in the industry are attributed to him and his work in the ring and to see him wrap up a career that he’s been successful with the entire time, it’s amazing to see a man live a career like that and to make a huge of an impact as he has in the industry, especially through the breath of his career and just, he stayed fresh, he stayed relevant, he stayed out there and you know, it’s an amazing feat. Not many will ever replicate it, probably ever.
In a separate interview, Samoa Joe discussed the origin of the viral “nope” spot.
Sting Set For Major Tag Team Match At Revolution
The Hall of Famer will team up against Darby Allin once again for his final encounter, having always been by the side of the former TNT Champion in all of his previous matches. Challenging Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the Tag Team Championships on February 7th, many are expecting a title change to take place and for Sting and Darby Allin will go on to face The Young Bucks inside The Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina.
