Tony Schiavone is now considered to be AEW President Tony Khan’s “right-hand man” as the power structure within the promotion continues to shift.
On August 3rd AEW underwent something of a backstage reshuffle with a number of figures being promoted, while the Talent Relations department as a whole was expanded.
One of the big movers was announcer Tony Schiavone became Senior Producer and Special Advisor to Talent.
However, Schiavone’s stock appears to have climbed even higher in recent days as chaos envelops All Elite Wrestling. Following All Out on September 4th, new AEW World Champion CM Punk launched a scathing attack on the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page and others in the post-show media scrum. This led to a fight backstage which also involved Ace Steel.
It has now been suggested that AEW boss Tony Khan sees the veteran announcer as his “right-hand man.” Schiavone is of course no stranger to backstage fallout having seen his fair share in WCW.
Steven Muehlhausen notes that Khan has begun to lean Schiavone as a result of the All Out incident.

Unsurprisingly the chaos following All Out has had a significant impact on the line-up for the upcoming September 7th edition of AEW Dynamite. It has been reported that those involved in the incident won’t be at the taping while there have been suspensions handed down. At time of writing it is unclear who has been suspended.
In addition, Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho who weren’t originally scheduled for the show will now be appearing.
