Tony Schiavone Reflects On Unexpected Scissoring

Tony Schiavone interviews The Acclaimed

June 17th was a night of firsts for many in AEW, and that proved to be the case for legendary announcer Tony Schiavone.

On the debut episode of Collision, CM Punk returned to action, Andrade El Idolo got back in the ring, and Miro made his presence felt inside the squared circle. The show also saw the crowning of a new TNT Champion as Wardlow fell victim to Luchasaurus.

However, one of the most crowd-pleasing moments of the show came when Tony Schiavone scissored with his friends live on television for the first time. After interviewing The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass the trio celebrated with Schiavone as only they know how.

Speaking on his podcast, What Happened When, Schiavone said that while the moment caught him by surprise, he had a lot of fun.

“That was tremendous. We had talked about it earlier. We talked about how we were going to do the interview. I just thought they were going to scissor. I didn’t know it was going to be me. That kind of surprised me. That was a lot of fun. They get a hell of a response. I’m a fan,”

Tony Schiavone Comments On AEW Contract

Speaking back in March, Tony Schiavone offered some details on his AEW contact. Schiavone, who joined the company as an announcer in 2019 and has since also taken on the role of Senior Producer and Special Advisor and Talent Relations, said that his deal runs out in April 2024.

The veteran announcer went on to rule out a move to WWE, joking that his wife Lois would divorce him if he made the jump.
