Tony Schiavone was hosting the AEW Dynamite Post-Show on YouTube when he was asked if AEW President Tony Khan would ever consider buying Impact Wrestling.
The What Happened When host was succinct in his reply:
He, jokingly, then added that Khan might use coupons to purchase the company or find a better investment:
“He’ll possibly use those S&H Green Stamps that were so popular in the 60s…Actually, I think he’s going to invest in a 1957 Chevrolet Coupe, which will bring him more money [than buying Impact].”
Schiavone has been one of AEW’s regular presences on Impact Wrestling since the two companies began working with each other. Appearing in ‘paid commercials’ alongside Tony Khan, they make jokes about Impact and promote AEW on TNT.
The latest twist in the saga between the two companies came as Matt Hardy and Private Party invaded the Impact Zone. Private Party would then go on to become number one contenders to the Impact Tag Team Championships. They defeated Chris Sabin and a returning James Storm thanks to an assist from AEW coach Jerry Lynn. Khan was also at ringside for the match.
Tony Khan recently revealed, in an interview with Renee Paquette, who he credits with coming up with the idea for the partnership between the two companies.
Tony Schiavone hosts the Post-Show every week after AEW Dynamite. This week he was joined by Dr. Britt Baker and Jungle Boy.
