Tony Schiavone Hits Out At Reports Of AEW Locker Room Unrest

Tony Schiavone in AEW Control Centre

Tony Schiavone has clapped back at “bullsh*t people on the internet” over suggestions that all is not well behind the scenes in AEW.

In recent weeks reports of disquiet among the AEW locker room have increased dramatically. Things appeared to come to a head on the August 17th edition of Dynamite when CM Punk reportedly went off script to make a series of digs at Hangman Adam Page.

This was followed by further reports which suggested that the situation with a number of top stars had got noticeably worse in recent weeks. In addition, some of these stars were said to be “close to breaking point” should things fail to improve.

One man who is front and centre in the midst of the supposed issues is Tony Schiavone. The veteran announcer was promoted to Senior Producer and Special Advisor to Talent on August 3rd, ensuring he works directly with talent.

Speaking on his What Happened When podcast, Schiavone explained that he was enjoying his new responsibilities.

“(I) enjoy my job, enjoy my new responsibilities with the company. They are challenging, but those are challenges that I readily accepted when I took the job. I’m seeing a whole new part of wrestling and wrestlers that I didn’t see before,”

Continuing on, the former WCW announcer took the opportunity to hit back at claims of locker room unrest, commenting that things aren’t as bad as reports have suggested.

“There are some challenges, as you know, and of course the internet is going crazy about this or that. I’m not going to get into it because…I’m going to say this right now, things are not as bad as bullshit people on the internet would say. Not even close to it. We’ve got some things in place now that I think are going to make us better than ever.”

Following news of CM Punk’s non-scripted comments aimed at Adam Page it was reported that the AEW World Champion had hinted that he wouldn’t appear on the show at all.
