Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese says he’s looking forward to not facing the same names every week as he embarks on the next stage of his career.
Nese was a mainstay of the cruiserweight division in WWE and starred most weeks on 205 Live. Nese and a host of other talents from the 205 Live roster were released from their contracts on June 25th, 2021.
Towards the end of his run in the company, Nese had aligned himself with Ariya Daivari calling themselves the ‘205 Live OGs’ as they feuded with newcomers such as August Grey, Ari Sterling, and Asher Hale.
Taking to social media, Tony Nese made clear that in the next stage of his career he’s looking forward to having more varied opponents:
“Although the talent I’ve mixed it up with for the past few years was some of the best talent in the world. I really can’t wait to not wrestle the same f’n names every week.”

Should Tony Nese have been subject to a ninety-day non-compete clause as part of his release from WWE he will be free to compete for or sign for another company towards the end of September.
Nese won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship for the only time on The Grandest Stage Of Them All as he defeated Buddy Murphy for the title on the pre-show of WrestleMania 35. He held the title for seventy-seven days before losing the belt to Drew Gulak at Stomping Grounds.
