Former WWE Superstar Tony Nese Makes Surprise Appearance In Crowd During AEW Dynamite

Tony Nese as WWE Cruiserweight Champion

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Tony Nese was filmed in attendance at the October 23rd edition of AEW Dynamite.

Nese was first shown in the audience during the opening match of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament.

The match pitted Bryan Danielson against Dustin Rhodes in a hard-hitting and hard-fought outing.

Tony Nese continued to be shown throughout the show and was referred to as the hottest free agent in professional wrestling, seemingly hinting at a future in-ring appearance.

WWE released Nese from his contract on June 25, earlier this year along with multiple other superstars.

Nese was with WWE for five years after signing with the company in 2016. He first appeared for WWE as part of the Cruiserweight Classic.

Nese went on to become part of the promotion’s relaunched Cruiserweight division.

He was an integral part of 205 Live and at WrestleMania 35, Nese defeated Buddy Murphy to win the Cruiserweight Championship.

He held the title for a total of 77 days before losing it to Drew Gulak in Triple Threat Match at Stomping Grounds in 2019.

Since leaving WWE Nese has returned to the independent scene where he used to ply his trade in Dragon Gate, House of Glory and Combat Zone Wrestling.
