Tony Khan On WWE Releases “I Don’t Know What The Hell You’re Thinking”

Tony Khan

Tony Khan has questioned WWE’s logic in releasing two particular stars, commenting that he can’t believe any company in the world would want to fire them.

Despite adding the likes of Bryan Danielson, CM Punk and Adam Cole to name just a few to his roster in 2021, Tony Khan has continued to expand the AEW roster in 2022. To date, the company have handed debuts to Toni Storm, Keith Lee, Swerve Strickland, Jeff Hardy and most recently Samoa Joe.

Speaking during a recent appearance on Rasslin’ with Brandon F. Walker, Khan discussed the arrivals of Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland. The AEW President said that he couldn’t believe that any company in the world would release two stars who are that talented.

“Also, speaking of established stars coming in, Swerve Strickland and right before that Keith Lee. I can’t believe these guys got fired by any wrestling company in the world. I don’t know what the hell you’re thinking if you run a wrestling company and you don’t have a spot for Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee. I get that there are only so many positions in a company but I think any company that has those guys and, you know, it wasn’t like they’re unreasonable guys. They’re great! I love both guys. They’ve been a huge part of what we’re doing here now, too,”

Since arriving in AEW, former NXT Champion Keith Lee has entered into a rivalry with Team Taz, clashing with Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks. In recent weeks, Lee has gained an ally in the form of Swerve Strickland, who had been having his own issues with Starks.

Keith Lee was released by WWE on November 4th after three years with the company while Swerve Strickland was released just days later ending his own two-year stay.
