Tony Khan Issues Bold Response To WWE Counter-Programming Post AEW Double Or Nothing

Tony Khan Quickly Made AEW Change Following Online Fan Reaction

Following AEW Double or Nothing, Tony Khan had an interesting response when asked about WWE counter-programming their shows.

AEW Double or Nothing was the most recent pay-per-view from Tony Khan‘s promotion. The show was filled with exciting matches and surprises from start to finish, receiving many positive reactions. However, they weren’t the only wrestling event held on May 25, as WWE also had NXT Battleground. Yesterday, the Stamford-based promotion also held Saturday Night’s Main Event.

This wasn’t the first time both wrestling promotions held a show on the same day, which Khan recognizes. During the post-Double or Nothing 2025 media scrum, the founder was asked about “other companies” scheduling events around All Elite’s show. Tony answered that it was the most consistent scheduling since Jim Crockett Promotions, but things would go differently this time.

“It’s pretty consistent. I’d say it’s the most consistent event head-to-head scheduling I’ve seen since Jim Crockett Promotions saw a lot of scheduling that went that way. I can tell you this will go a lot differently than that did,”

Jim Crockett Promotions was one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the 1980s, and like AEW today, was counter-programmed by WWE in the past.

WWE and AEW will go head-to-head again in July 2025

The next major PPV for AEW will be All In: Texas, which will be held at the Globe Life Field in Arlington on July 12. Interestingly, WWE recently announced shows during and after All Elite’s biggest show of the year.

After this weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, the next SNME edition will be held on July 12 in Atlanta, Georgia, the same night as All In: Texas. It was also announced that WWE’s second edition of Evolution, an all-women’s premium live event, will be held the day after the 40th edition of SNME.
