Since All Elite Wrestling launched back in 2019 the company have only held one live event outside of their usual television tapings. However, according to Tony Khan that could be about to change.
When AEW held the standalone event “The House Always Wins” in April 2021 many fans thought this would be the start of a touring schedule of live events but that wasn’t the case. Although optimism was increased in November 2022 with the signing of Jeff Jarrett. The veteran was appointed Director of Business Development as well as appearing on television. Jarret had been WWE’s Senior Vice President of Live Events prior to joining the company.
Tony Khan Confirms Live Events Have Been Discussed
During an appearance on In The Zone, Khan confirmed that he his exploring the possibility of more live events while praising the team he has in place.
“Well, it’s a great question. Yeah, I have. That’s something we are talking about. We have a great live events team with Rafael Morffi, Chris Harrington and a bunch of great people I work with. Now Jeff Jarrett has come in. It’s something we’ve talked a lot about and building out the live event business. There is definitely a lot of demand for AEW live events, and now we have this big great strong roster that wants to do these live events, so I think that is something we’re going to do.”
During the interview Tony Khan discussed the success of AEW and professional wrestling in general, explaining that there is room for his company and WWE to co-exist. Khan also revealed that he has been watching news of a WWE sale “very closely.”
After it was reported that WWE had been sold to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, a new report has claimed that isn’t the case.
