Tony Khan has provided fans with an update regarding his reported huge announcement, seemingly revealing a date for the revelation.
Tony Khan, All Elite Wrestling’s CEO and President, has been teasing yet another huge announcement, though this isn’t expected to be another signing to the roster. Although the exact specifics of what the announcement entails, Khan noted on Busted Open Radio when first revealing the news that it would be a “big deal in pro wrestling”.
Again appearing on Busted Open Radio, Khan has given the Wednesday, 2 March edition of Dynamite as a working date for when he hopes to make the announcement, again reiterating that this will be a huge moment within wrestling (h/t Fightful):
“I’ve been talking a lot about a big announcement in the world of pro wrestling. Not only is there going to be a lot of great wrestling on the show…I promise you guys, I have a huge announcement coming. Nobody knows what it is it. It’s going to be something very important in the wrestling business. It’s not one particular piece of talent, it’s something very special. I’m really excited about it, I believe it’s something we’ll be in position to announce on Wednesday. I’m pretty excited about that.”
Ahead of this announcement, Tony Khan has referenced the second episode of Rampage, aptly titled The First Dance, which featured the return to wrestling of CM Punk. According to the AEW head honcho, this forthcoming announcement will somehow top that momentous return.
Speculation is running rampant as to what the announcement could be. During a Q&A session on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp speculated about the Tony Khan-helmed promotion potentially purchasing the Ring Of Honor tape library, though is nowhere near confirmed.
Tony Khan’s recent teases on social media have resulted in the likes of Keith Lee and Mercedes Martinez being signed by All Elite Wrestling, the former of which was teased around the time of this impending announcement.
