Tony Khan has opened up on Ricky Starks’ status in AEW.
Missing from AEW’s television programming for some time now, fans have been eagerly waiting for Starks to return. Last seen in March, Starks has been absent from the promotion for almost the past six months.
Despite his current contract status with the Jacksonville-based promotion, fans are unsure about his return. However, emerging in the limelight, the FTW Champion has recently appeared in multiple independent wrestling promotions and was even present backstage during the Full Gear PPV.
Slated to appear on a few GCW events, the promotion pulled Ricky Starks from those events after Effy’s comments. At the Worlds End Media Call, Jon Alba asked Khan if Ricky could be a part of any upcoming events in 2025.
Heading into 2025, Fight for the Fallen will take place on 1st January and be the promotion’s first simulcast on the Max streaming service. Teasing several surprises for the upcoming show and Stark’s appearance, Khan said:
I think we’ll have to stay tuned to see who’s going to be a part of the Fight for the Fallen simulcast. It remains to be seen. We’ve got a great roster here, and we’ve got one of our best pay-per-view lineups for Worlds End this year. I think it’s a tremendous card. Then, As for who’s going to be at the ‘Mother of All Simulcasts,’ that remains to be seen. But thanks for asking.”

As of now, only Julia Hart versus Jamie Hayter has been confirmed for the 1st January show.
NJPW Star Takes Shots At Tony Khan
In a recent interview with NJPW’s YouTube channel, NJPW star Gabe Kidd took a few professional and personal shots at Tony Khan. Just days before his match against Kenny Omega at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th, 2025, Kidd hyped up the bout.
I don’t give a s**t if AEW wants to sign me. What, so I can go and turn up to TV, be Tony’s new toy? Go on Dynamite, have a couple of matches and then sit and catering for 23 weeks doing f**k all, flying to Toledo, Ohio, to do what? A show in front of a crowd that have seen five hours of wrestling already? I have no interest in that whatsoever.”
