AEW President Tony Khan has suggested that Lio Rush could return to the company in the near future.
Lio Rush made his AEW debut in May at Double or Nothing appearing as the ‘Joker’ during the Casino Battle Royale. While he didn’t win the match, his eye-catching showing led fans to hope that his appearance wouldn’t be a one-off.
However, in early June Rush announced his intention to retire due to mounting injury problems. The New Japan star said that he would be taking time off to heal up before fulfilling his obligations with the Japanese promotion.
Posting on social media in early August, Rush announced that he had been cleared ahead of a return to the ring.
Writing on Twitter, Tony Khan has now suggested that Rush could be heading back to AEW. Khan said that he had been talking to Rush “a lot” about a return, adding that “it feels like something that could happen in the near future.”
I see a lot of tweets talking about Lio Rush today. Coincidentally, I’ve been talking to @TheLionelGreen a lot recently about returning to @AEW, and it feels like something that could happen in the near future.
