AEW President Tony Khan has addressed his promotion’s relationship with Warner Bros Discovery amidst their media rights negotiations.
All Elite Wrestling’s media rights with WBD (Warner Bros Discovery) are set to expire at the end of 2024. Long-rumored to close the deal with WBD, Khan finally opened up on the promotion’s current negotiation update with the media giant.
At the latest All Out media call, Kevin Kallam of Sportskeeda asked Khan to provide an update on the situation. Khan proceeded to provide an insightful update on their ongoing deal, and the relationship between the two organizations.
t’s a really exciting time for AEW. We are having great conversations. There have been a lot of reports, and a lot of them have been pretty accurate about the status of the media deal between AEW and Warner Brothers Discovery being something that has been a productive and ongoing conversation that we’re still working on.
We’re still working through the details of the agreement, which is a very long and tenuous process, but a good process to do. It can be long to figure out a contract for one person, one player, one athlete. Imagine an entire league, doing an agreement for all of our events and all the exciting things we’re working on. There are some exciting things to come, without revealing anything that would jeopardize our company or the great status of everything we’re working on. There is a lot of excitement on each side.
He continued:
Without getting into the future of streaming, I acknowledge there have been a lot of good conversations between AEW and Warner Brothers Discovery. There are a lot of things to be worked out, but it’s a great time for AEW. This is going to work out really well for AEW and our fans.”
With all the positive news, fans have been now left more excited to witness the outcome of his deal.
AEW Champion Praises Tony Khan Ahead Of All Out
After her title defense at All In, and at Capital Collision, Mercedes Mone recently opened up on Tony Khan’s passion for wrestling and leadership qualities. Mone recently defended her gold against Momo Watanabe at Capital Collision, which was also supposed to be attended by Khan.
However, because of an unfortunate incident, the Jacksonville-based promotion’s president could not attend the show. Despite his failure to show up, he left Mone impressed, and in awe of his qualities. She shared:
What an honor to know someone who shoulders so much responsibility as Tony does was trying to fly all the way to DC just to see my match! What an amazing boss and leader with such infectious passion.”
In other news: Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman have finally reunited after WrestleMania 40.
According to a new report, AEW All Out could set an unfortunate record.
