Tony Khan recently did his best to avoid questions about the difficulties of running pay-per-views on back-to-back weekends.
On August 27th, AEW will head to the United Kingdom for the first time, and the promotion is doing it in a big way. All In will be held at Wembley Stadium in London and is the first wrestling event to take place at the famous venue since SummerSlam 1992. Even more impressively, ticket sales recently passed those of the iconic show.
However, just a week later, the company will also head to Chicago for All Out on September 3rd. This has reportedly already had an impact, with Kenny Omega said to be on the verge of missing out on a singles match at Wembley, so he can face Konosuke Takeshita in Chicago.
During an appearance on the Battleground podcast, Khan was asked about the challenges of running two big shows close together but gave little away. The AEW boss simply said “we’re going to find out,” before talking up All In.
“Well, we’re going to find out. It’s exciting to do it and it’s going to be the first time anybody has tried anything like this. AEW has got our biggest show of all time coming up on August 27 at Wembley Stadium, it’s going to be a massive event. I’m so excited for the show.
Right now, the ticket sales are unprecedented. This is the biggest pro wrestling event in the history of Europe. No show ever in Europe has sold more tickets or had a bigger gross than this. It’s pretty special. It’s one of the biggest wrestling events in the history of the world now. It’s going to be a week apart, two huge events, and we have some huge events leading into them.”
What Did Tony Khan Say About The Issues Between CM Punk & Adam Page?
During the same interview, the AEW boss was asked about the problems between CM Punk and Adam Page that have come back to the surface. Following the August 12th episode of Collision, Punk took aim at Page in a promo about fans not wanting to buy his action figures.
When asked for comment, Tony Khan declined to give one.
