Jim Ross’ AEW status was shared by Tony Khan.

In May this year, Jim Ross announced that he was diagnosed with colon cancer. After undergoing surgery a week later, he revealed that it was a success, and last month he shared that he was already cancer-free. Following the joyous news, Tony Khan was hoping to see the legendary commentator back on AEW programming soon.

In a conversation with TMZ Sports, Tony Khan was asked if Jim Ross would be involved in any upcoming plans. The AEW President shared that he would love to have Ross back, especially with All In: Texas approaching next week, but he didn’t want to put too much on the 73-year-old’s plate.

It would be amazing. I don’t want to put too much on Jim’s [Ross] plate, but it certainly would be amazing. And I would love it. And I hope that it’s possible. I certainly really feel like Jim’s making great strides in his recovery. That would be an amazing thing if we can make it happen. And hopefully we could.”

Tony Khan On Jim Ross’ Role In AEW

After Jim Ross shared that he was cancer-free, he also noted in his Grilling JR podcast that he was indebted to AEW and shared that Tony Khan had been “amazingly wonderful” during his recovery. Now, it was Khan who shared JR’s impact on the Jacksonville-based promotion.

In the same conversation with TMZ Sports, Tony Khan said that it meant a lot for him to be with Ross during his recovery and that he was happy the wrestling legend was doing much better. Khan also noted how everybody in the company loved Ross and how he had played a pivotal role in AEW since its inception:

Jim’s [Ross] done a lot for AEW and me personally, and it means a lot that I can be there and stand by Jim in a tough time for him. And it’s so great to hear that Jim is doing much better now. And we’re all wishing JR the best in his recovery. Everyone in AEW loves JR. And he has been a huge part of AEW from the very beginning. And it’s great to have him in AEW now as part of the team. And I can’t wait to have JR back when he’s ready and healthy to go, which hopefully it will be soon.”

It remains to be seen when Jim Ross will be back on television.
