Having now promoted two pay-per-views under the Ring Of Honor banner, Tony Khan seems to be edging closer to securing a major television deal for the company!
The announcement of Tony Khan purchasing Ring Of Honor this past March was met with excitement. Khan had proven himself as a near-perfect booker with All Elite Wrestling, so seeing Khan operate an already-established company like ROH was going to be intriguing to see.
He’s thus far nailed it, with acclaimed pay-per-views Supercard Of Honor and Death Before Dishonor in April and July, respectively. Appearing on the In The Kliq podcast, the AEW CEO has now finally revealed which television network fans may soon find ROH programming on:
“The Ring of Honor pay-per-view events this year have been the most successful couple of Ring of Honor pay-per-view events in many years and actually they would both rank in the top, probably top three or four Ring of Honor pay-per-view events ever. So this has been the best year Ring of Honor’s ever had on pay-per-view, which is pretty amazing.
If we can get the weekly TV going again, it would be even stronger. I would love to bring Ring of Honor back on a weekly basis, and it’s a conversation I’m having with Warner Bros. Discovery pretty frequently, and I have to say something that’s gonna be really helpful is the success Ring of Honor has had on PPV.
I think they got a great look at how much opportunity there is in the Ring of Honor business, and how many great wrestling fans there are. Not just fans for AEW, because obviously AEW is a top priority for TBS and TNT, but also now for Ring of Honor. Bring ROH and AEW together, lots of positives and synergies.”
Ring Of Honor aired its final episode on the Sinclair Broadcasting Group on 15 April, featuring previous matches from company history. Shown on the episode were Roderick Strong vs. Eddie Edwards from Manhattan Mayhem 2011, Jay Briscoe vs. Jay Lethal from Best In The World 2015, and Jonathan Gresham vs. Dak Draper from 19th Anniversary Show.
The Tony Khan-helmed Ring Of Honor has thus far contained a mix of established AEW stars with indie stars brought in specifically to work ROH dates. Among them have included Blake Christian, Alex Zayne, and Tully Blanchard Enterprises, now under Prince Nana’s leadership as The Embassy.
