Tony Khan Reveals He Now Owns Ring Of Honor

By James Holder. Published 3rd March 2022.
AEW President Tony Khan on the mic

Tony Khan had promised a major announcement and wasted little time in getting down to business, revealing that he has bought Ring of Honor!

For a number of weeks, AEW President Tony Khan had been teasing a huge announcement that would be a game changer for the wrestling industry. Speaking only a week ago, Khan compared the upcoming deal to the First Dance, where CM Punk returned to professional wrestling for the first time in more than seven years.

Fast forward to March 2nd, and after playing his cards close to his chest during a media call earlier in the day, Khan took to the ring with Tony Schiavone.

Khan first thanked AEW’s fans for keeping the company going through the pandemic, before shifting his focus to his announcement. AEW’s head honcho recalled that Ring of Honor came into being 20 years ago, before dropping the bombshell that he had brought the company.

According to a press release marking the announcement, the deal also includes Ring of Honor’s video library. You can find the full press release below.

Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor will take place in Fort-Worth, Texas on April 1st. The show will be the company’s first since going on a break in late 2021.

Back in October, Ring of Honor announced that the promotion would be going on hiatus after their Final Battle event in December. At the time it was tentatively suggested that a “reimagined” version of the company would return in the first quarter of 2022.
