Former AEW Champion Says Tony Khan Has Left The Door Open For Possible Return

Tony Khan announces first-ever singles match for returning AEW star.

During the latest AEW Collision, Kazuchika Okada and the rest of The Don Callis Family recalled their attack on Kenny Omega and said he would likely miss All In: Texas, and if he does, he would be alone, as he doesn’t have any friends. However, Mark Briscoe came out to defend his friend, and he didn’t come alone as he was joined by Kota Ibushi.

Ahead of the upcoming AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that Kota Ibushi will return to action against Okada’s friend, Trent Beretta. This will mark the first time the returning star will compete in a singles match in the company, along with his first match in the Jacksonville-based promotion since November 2023.

Kota Ibushi Previously Gave A Worrying Update About His Health Amidst AEW Absence

Although it has been several months since Kota Ibushi wrestled in AEW, he has remained active for other wrestling promotions, competing in shows like NOAH, DDT, and more. This was certainly a good sign, as he previously shared that his career could end at any time.

In December last year, the returning star shared that his legs are at his limit after experiencing multiple injuries throughout his career, with some even requiring surgery. He noted that although he was at his limit, he wanted to continue contributing to professional wrestling before hanging up his boots, hence why he also decided to appear in various places.
