Tony Khan has responded to a recent update from former Women’s Champion Toni Storm.
On November 20th, Toni Storm delivered the shocking update that she would be stepping away from wrestling entirely. The announcement was made following on from Storm losing the Women’s Championship to Mariah May at All In along with losses in Japan and in Mexico. With Storm being one of the standout stars in All Elite Wrestling, fans were at first surprised by the update before realising that it was an in-character update from Storm.
With Storm stating in her address that he had not spoken to Khan about stepping away, the AEW President was asked about Storm on the Full Gear media call. Khan praised Storm’s work in the company and much like the fans, did not believe that Storm had taken her final bow:
“Timeless Toni Storm has been a great world champion for AEW. I think reports of her demise have been greatly exaggerated. I still expect Toni Storm will have a great wrestling career, but she’s really struggling, clearly, with what’s happened. She lost the world title, she lost her protege. I think she feels like she lost everything and now she’s lost. I hope Toni Storm can find herself and come back to us in AEW because Timeless Toni Storm is a great part of AEW.”
With Mariah May hosting a champagne celebration at Full Gear, many are expecting Storm to make a surprise return at the pay-per-view.
Tony Khan Addresses Another Notable Absence
After being out of action for nearly a year, former World Champion Kenny Omega will be returning to the ring for New Japan on January 5th. Following an altercation during his previous NJPW visit, Omega’s opponent will be Strong Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd. Also during the media call, Tony Khan provided an update on a potential return for Kenny Omega in All Elite Wrestling.
