Tony Khan has defended the ratings for AEW Collision.
Launching on June 17th, 2023 to give CM Punk a platform while further showcasing the promotion’s stacked roster, the show has struggled to draw in the desired amount of viewers.
For example, the show usually draws around 400,000 viewers, creating a negative aura despite featuring big name talents and stellar matches.
To hype the June 22nd edition of his Saturday night show Khan posted on social media using the one year anniversary of Collision as an incentive to draw in viewers.
Last weekend #AEWCollision celebrated 1 year of colliding on TNT on Saturdays! Now, we’re back TONIGHT for a stacked episode! After celebrating Father’s Day last weekend, @Christian4Peeps returns on TNT tonight + so much more!
Don’t miss AEW next on TNT after The Suicide Squad!
While the majority of his followers responded positively to his post, one user took the opportunity to fire a shot at the show’s less than impressive ratings.
1 year of shocking ratings and you pretending it’s good…
As wrestling fans have seen over the years Khan is not one to take any criticism lightly and responded to his critic stating:
Yes Derek, speaking of 1 year and shocking, I was also thrilled when the 1 year anniversary Saturday Night #AEWCollision beat UFC head-to-head, 7 days ago.
What a great way to celebrate 1 year of @AEW on Saturday Nights on TNT!
For the record UFC Fight Night on June 15th secured 0.387 million viewers, while AEW had 0.431 million thus giving Khan the metrics to fire back at critical fans.
Tony Khan responds to rumours about Shane McMahon potentially joined AEW
The news broke in June 2024 with reports suggesting Shane McMahon himself has reached out to some wrestlers currently in AEW.
However, Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that Khan has never met or spoken to McMahon and has distanced himself from the speculation.
Tony Khan’s comment was “I’ve never met him or talked to him in my life.”
