Tony Khan was among several notable AEW names in attendance for the recent wedding to celebrate the union of MJF and Alicia Atout. A photo and awkward exchange previously confirmed how the lifelong wrestling fan had a great time at the ceremony, and now sources are revealing a look at Khan’s backstage reputation, and what he did to free up his schedule for The Devil’s wedding.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman is now an honest man, believe it or not. The 29-year-old grappler tied the knot with Alicia Atout on Friday, September 5 in East Norwich, New York at The Pine Hollow Club, a member-only country club that also hosts weddings and other events. Friedman and the 30-year-old backstage interviewer began dating in November 2023 but previously worked together on the indies.
The Interview Queen and The Salt of The Earth were joined by several colleagues last Friday as they took the plunge, including Adam Page, Tony Schiavone, Hook, Taz, The Jarretts, Amanda Huber, Thunder Rosa, Daniel Garcia, and Max Caster, among others including the AEW-ROH boss himself, who was forced to post a follow-up after commenting that this was the best wedding ever, which fueled back-and-forth exchanges between fans who reminded Tony Khan of how much fun he had at the August 2022 wedding for Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara.
Tony Khan Changed ROH Death Before Dishonor Plans For MJF’s Wedding
Ring of Honor presented its 22nd Death Before Dishonor PPV on Friday, August 29 at the former ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA. This was the second night of AEW’s 2300 Arena residency, and its only stand-alone ROH event.
Tony Khan receives criticism from all angles, for various reasons, while also drawing praise from the All Elite diehards. The internal opinions of the sports executive also vary, but Wrestling Observer Radio noted how it’s no secret that the 42-year-old will never miss a show if he can help it, which comes with his reputation of being a hard worker.
ROH originally announced Death Before Dishonor XXII for July 11 at the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas during All In Weekend. However, weeks later the event was changed to Friday, September 5 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA, but three months later the date changed to Friday, August 29. At the time, sources within AEW and ROH were unable to confirm why the changes were made. The rumor mill claimed this was due to a wedding, but no other details were provided. Now it’s been revealed that the schedule was re-shuffled so Tony Khan could attend the wedding for two of his employees.
The wedding of MJF and Alicia Atout is the reason for ROH Death Before Dishonor taking place at the end of August. Officials wanted to hold the PPV last Friday, but it was moved up because Khan was invited to the wedding, and he wanted to attend, but is not going to miss one of his wrestling events.
Tony Khan was wanted at the wedding by the bride and groom. Furthermore, Wrestling Observer Radio adds that this meant there could not be an AEW or ROH event on September 5.
