The NFL has referenced the recent attack on Tony Khan.
During the main event segment of the April 24th episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan was attacked by Jack Perry and The Young Bucks. First struck in the ribs by Perry, Khan was later hit with The Buck’s finisher and spiked onto the mat. Laying unconscious as the show went off the air, referees, wrestlers and Tony’s father Shad Khan were all seen checking on the President of the company.
Along with being the founders of All Elite Wrestling, the Khan family are also the owners of the NFL team the Jacksonville Jaguars. On April 25th, one of the biggest events in the pre-season takes place as the 2024 Draft begins. With Tony Khan expected to be in attendance, the NFL has commented on the attack.
In an update on the NFL website, Khan’s status for the draft has been listed as “questionable” as a result of the attack on Dynamite. The article discusses the attack and acknowledges that it is a part of the storyline. However, the article also concludes by stating that there is no guarantee that Khan will be appearing alongside Jaguars staff for the first day:
The Jaguars currently hold the No. 17 overall pick. Whether head coach Doug Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke can count on Tony Khan recovering from the heinous attack by Perry and the Young Bucks on Wednesday in Duval remains to be seen.
The NFL Draft runs for 3 days beginning April 25th and concluding on Saturday, April 27th, the same night as Collision and Rampage. A follow-up report from Fightful Select has also added that Khan has been seen in a neck brace backstage, even on a closed set.
