Tony Khan has claimed that AEW is set to “create a shockwave throughout all of professional wrestling.”
AEW is currently in negotiations with Warner Brothers Discovery over a new media rights deal between the two companies. While the process seems to have been slow-going over the past few months, Tony Khan has been publicly optimistic, even recently saying that AEW was on TBS and TNT “to stay.”
With talks continuing, All Elite Wrestling recently filed to trademark the phrase “AEW Shockwave”. It appears that the filing is for an event or TV program. However, the phrase might have a double meaning for Khan, as when he was asked about it at the All Out media scrum, he said the company is set to “create a shockwave” through all of pro wrestling.
“It would be safe to say that AEW is set to create a shockwave throughout all of professional wrestling.
“I think people are going to be talking about what they saw at AEW All Out, which was a huge business success for us, did really really well at the NOW Arena, big sell out show, and also really well on pay-per-view.
“I think it bodes well and creates anticipation for Dynamite. We’ll continue to send that shockwave through the world of professional wrestling here at AEW.”
Tony Khan Provides Update On AEW Media Rights Deal
During the media scrum, Tony Khan gave an update on the status of the AEW media rights deal with WBD. The AEW President explained that negotiations were ongoing and that they were discussing “a very detailed package.” Khan then went a step further, saying there was a 90% likelihood of a deal being announced in the next month.
In recent news, Tony Khan has updated fans on Britt Baker’s AEW status.
