AEW President Tony Khan has promised a “huge announcement” on AEW Dynamite as the flagship show of All Elite Wrestling celebrates its second anniversary.
AEW Dynamite first aired on October 2nd, 2019 in Washington D.C. as professional wrestling returned to TNT for the first time in two decades. On that night AEW World Champion Chris Jericho introduced the world to his Inner Circle as he, Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz, and Jake Hager took out The Elite.
With Dynamite airing on the 6th of October from Philadelphia, the company is treating the show as the second anniversary of AEW Dynamite and boss Tony Khan seemingly has big ideas for the occasion. Speaking to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the CEO of AEW promised a huge announcement on the show:
“There’s a lot of great wrestling and I’m going to have some fun announcements, and it’s going to be a really special show. And I can tell you right now, I have one huge announcement on the show. It is going to be a lot of fun, and it should be just a really, really good night of wrestling for Wednesday Night Dynamite, two year anniversary show.”
A Casino Ladder Match is set to take place on the show with six of the combatants already named and a Joker who remains a mystery. Khan wouldn’t be drawn on the identity of the Joker but says it’s been something “a long time coming:”
“I will not give you any insight into who the joker is going to be. I will not tell you that, but I will go back to the announcement instead and tell you that it’s been something a long time coming. I’m very excited about it and proud of it and it’ll really add a lot to the company, I think.”
Jon Moxley, Lance Archer, Matt Hardy, Orange Cassidy, Andrade El Idolo, and PAC are the six other men in the match who will be attempting to earn a future AEW World Championship match.
