Tony Khan Praises Top AEW Star For Taking Risks In & Out Of The Ring

Tony Khan Believes The Future Of AEW Is

Tony Khan is a big fan of “absolute wizard” Darby Allin.

The former TNT Champion is known for taking huge risks both in and out of the ring. For example, Allin is just as likely to be seen flying off a skateboard ramp on a kid’s tricycle as much as he is taking glass shattering dives from the top of ladders on AEW TV.

His daredevil antics often leave him banged up and on the injured list, which left two interviewers wondering if Khan would ever consider adding time to Allin’s contract to cover the time lost for recovery.

While guesting on Levack and Goz, the AEW President was asked whether such a stipulation would be applied to Allin’s contract, to which he replied:

“No, no I haven’t. That’s one of the things that makes Darby so unique and special. He is always at the forefront and always at the cutting edge. He wants to try new things. It’s that risk taking, that energy, these things make him so unique and appealing to the wrestling fans. I like to tap into that. He takes big risks, but it’s the risks he takes in the ring as a wrestler that are even more dangerous than when he climbs Mount Everest or does some of the craziest motorcycle stunts you’ll ever see. The guy is an absolute wizard in the ring and he’s one of the great wrestlers and risk takers in the world right now,” h/t Fightful

In recent news, an AEW champion is set to appear in a crossover match with NJPW.

Will Tony Khan Ever Have A Match On AEW TV?

In the same interview, Khan was asked if he would ever step into the ring for a match.

Although, he has taken some bumps inside the squared circle, and even sold them during the NFL draft earlier this year. Khan has stayed largely off-screen since his beating by The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada on AEW Dynamite in April and doesn’t think getting involved in matches is a good idea.

“I still don’t think that is in the cards, but a lot of the best wrestlers in the world are in AEW. ‘Where the best wrestle’ is our tagline, and I want to keep it that way and keep myself out of the ring.”
