Tony Khan has discussed the possibility of bringing AEW to the UK in 2022 and says London is most definitely calling for his upstart promotion.
Since All Elite Wrestling was formed in 2019, fans in the UK have been clamouring for the company to run a big show across the pond. Although WWE and other promotions have run UK shows, the last global major event held on UK soil was SummerSlam 1992 which was held in Wembley Stadium in London.
Speaking exclusively to Kenny McIntosh for issue 17 of the Inside The Ropes magazine Tony Khan discussed that possibility and says he’d love to bring AEW to somewhere that is also close to his heart:
“I’m going to do my best to make sure that we get there soon—hopefully in 2022. I can’t promise it yet, but it has been a goal of mine to bring AEW to Craven Cottage. I hope that this is the year. They are two of my favourite things, Craven Cottage and AEW. I think they would go together smashingly. I think they would be a perfect combo. Whenever we do come to the UK, I look forward to bringing AEW to the Cottage.”
Craven Cottage is home to Fulham Football Club which the Khan family also owns. In addition to his AEW and Jacksonville Jaguars duties, Tony Khan also works as Director of Football Operations for the West London football club.
