According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Tony Khan is now in the mindset of being able to work with any promotion in the world.
During the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer noted that there were plenty of teases and hope for fans who wanted to see more crossovers with other notorious wrestling promotions around the world.
With the new partnership between AEW and IMPACT Wrestling, which allowed AEW World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega to switch between both promotions in the company’s biggest ever storyline, Meltzer cites that Tony Khan is now open to other relationships.
However, those devotees who hold out hopes for an AEW/WWE inter-promotional tale will have to continue fantasising. Despite Triple H stating that WWE are open to do business with anyone, Meltzer states that the only businesses likely to do business with the Jacksonville giants are New Japan Pro Wrestling, with IMPACT, NWA and AAA already on good terms.
An association with NJPW has been widely speculation for All Elite Wrestling as far back as Hiroshi Tanahashi appearing on Dynamite in October. Now, Dave Meltzer observes that Khan and Rocky Romero are on friendly terms to bridge the gap between both companies and some type of relationship is believed to be more likely without Harold Meij.
While there are other promotions that AEW could do business with, including MLW and Ring of Honor, it’s likely many will wait and see how lucrative the company’s fable with IMPACT Wrestling is for the latter before jumping head first into an agreement which may not be right for them.
