Being questioned by fans about use of talent is nothing new to Tony Khan due to his online presence and high profile roles with All Elite Wrestling, NFL franchise the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC.
However, throughout 2022, especially with regard to AEW, that criticism has also come from within. Stars such as Miro, Eddie Kingston and Andrade El Idolo have all vented their frustrations very publicly and gained support online.
Speaking in a new interview with Will Washington, Phil Lindsey, and Righteous Reg of Grapsody, Khan was asked about Miro, and other stars complaining online.
Khan said that due to a variety of reasons, not everyone on the AEW roster will gain exposure each week, but with multiple hours of programming to manage, fans are rewarded with multiple names appearing.
Tony Khan Sees Eddie Kingston As A Big Part Of AEW Rampage
Eddie Kingston has been a big fan favourite since the creation of AEW, but appears to feel that those making the decisions have signed poorly. The star recently claiming that there are ‘f***boys in the locker room’. However, Khan feels that Kingston has a huge role in the company.
“You’re never going to keep everybody happy. Really, you have to focus on that. You have people that are going to be focused week to week. Eddie is a big part of [December 23 AEW Rampage]. There are dozens of wrestlers featured on Dynamite and Rampage every week. Throughout those three hours, you see lots of names, but there are also dozens of names you aren’t seeing every week, and sometimes, they are silent about that, and sometimes there is a reason. Somebody is hurt, somebody is working on another project, they are being repackaged, or frankly, there are not enough slots in three hours.
n other sports teams, you don’t see it as much. It’s not common in the NFL for the backup quarterback to slight the coach because he’s not playing. It’s not common in the NBA for the backup point guard to slight the coach because he’s not getting minutes. I take it, and I take it with a smile and I’ll keep taking it with a smile. It’s okay, I understand everyone wants to wrestle and everyone wants to do things.
Everyone is coming from a different perspective. I don’t want to compare one person’s situation to another because it’s apples and oranges, but we have a lot of great wrestlers here and when they’re here, and when we can get everyone involved, I love that,”
After launching in 2019, All Elite Wrestling has grown its programming with weekly episodes of Dynamite, Rampage and Dark.
This success has seen a flux of stars arrive, finding a solution to keep everyone happy is the biggest task for Khan, one that he seems confident to handle.
“I understand everyone wants to wrestle and everyone wants to do things. Everyone is coming from a different perspective.
