Tony Khan is currently enduring a tough time with his brainchild AEW. However, he recently found guidance from an unexpected source.
WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff is widely known on the internet for his constructive criticism and X (Twitter) feuds against Khan. However, on the recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, he had some unexpected pieces of advice up his sleeves.
Sharing his thoughts on the podcast, Bischoff suggested Khan move past his childhood memories and focus on the American television audience. He stated:
I would focus on creative. I would make sure the talent knew. We’re moving into the storytelling business, ladies and gentlemen, because this athletic exhibition shit that we’re doing, even though Tony Khan loves it because 14-year-old Tony Khan used to get his n** at ECW watching it. That’s not what the American television audience is interested in.
The former WCW president further expressed his concerns regarding the five-year-old promotion’s financial struggle, and how they need to overcome it. Apart from making certain creative changes, the Hall of Famer also suggested working on the promotion’s storylines.
It’s laughable what little progress they’ve made in five or six years with the hundreds of millions of dollars that Tony Khan has invested so far. I would really focus on storytelling.
Tony Khan And His Wrestling Promotion Haunted By Multiple Injuries
Amidst their current struggles, Tony Khan’s Jacksonville-based promotion is now being haunted by multiple wrestler injuries. Names such as Skye Blue, Dalton Castle, Killswitch, and Jay White are currently nursing injuries, with no fixed return date.
Although Bischoff wants Khan to focus on their stories, the current injury list seems concerning.
