AEW President Tony Khan has advised fans to “keep watching” over the next few weeks, commenting that he’s “more than aware” of the high-profile free agents available.
Following the multiple rounds of releases by WWE throughout 2021 and the news that Ring Of Honor has closed it’s doors at least for now, the pool of wrestling free agents has arguably never been stronger. Something Tony Khan admits that he’s very much aware of.
AEW has been mooted as a potential destination for Bray Wyatt, Ember Moon, The Briscoe Brothers, Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly to name but a few. While details have remained thin on the ground about any new signings, Tony Khan has continued to hint that there will be at least some new arrivals.
After recently commenting that he “plans to remain active in signing great wrestlers,” Khan has now warned fans to keep a close eye on their upcoming shows. One of which is Winter Is Coming, which played host to the spectacular arrival of The Icon, Sting, just one year ago.
Speaking to Christopher Walker of DAZN, Khan admitted that he’s aware of the free agents available, some of which he also admires.
“I’m more than aware that there’s a number of free agents out there, wrestlers I admire too, but I’ve got to say that you just have to keep watching over these next few weeks and not just ‘Winter is Coming.’
“There’s the ‘Holiday Bash’ special from Greensboro, North Carolina, that includes the Christmas Day ‘Rampage.’ We have the last ever episode on TNT followed by the debut episode on TBS. There’s ‘Battle of the Belts’ coming in January. I want AEW to run shows that you just can’t miss, and I think these next few weeks are going to be really exciting for fans of wrestling.”
At Winter Is Coming Hangman Adam Page will defend the AEW World Championship that he won at Full Gear in November against the undefeated Bryan Danielson.
