Tony Khan Makes A Major Announcement About AEW’s Future

Tony Khan makes an announcement on AEW Dynamite

Tony Khan is known for his announcements, whether they’re big happenings or teasers for a future announcement. The AEW-ROH owner has just dropped major news on the future of the All Elite product, along with a significant change that will not sit well with the competition.

WWE recently announced its inaugural Wrestlepalooza PLE for Saturday, September 20 at Gainebridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, as counter-programming to AEW’s seventh annual All Out pay-per-view. Wrestlepalooza will also mark the kick-off to WWE’s Premium Live Event deal with ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer service. The partnership that will see all main roster PLEs air on the ESPN streaming platform was set to begin at the start of the year, with Wrestlepalooza serving as a preview of the deal, but plans changed and the two companies moved things up.

AEW will present All Out VII from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto with homegrown stars Adam Copeland and Christian Cage vs FTR. Tony Khan has made a big change to the start time, moving it from 8pm to 3pm ET, which means the first-ever head-to-head battle between AEW and a main roster WWE PLE will not happen after all. Most of All Out will have already happened by the time WWE begins Wrestlepalooza at 7pm ET.

AEW and NJPW saw success with the afternoon start time for Forbidden Door IV last month, and that helped officials make the decision on the All Out start time. Fightful Select adds that the start time change had been discussed for weeks. However, this is not the biggest All Out news to drop this afternoon.

Tony Khan Announces AEW All Out For HBO Max

AEW All Out will mark a new chapter between the company and Warner Bros. Discovery as this will be the first-ever All Elite PPV to be available on the HBO Max streaming platform. All Out VII will still air on other providers, including Amazon Prime Video, but AEW is featuring HBO Max as the main outlet, centering all marketing and promotion around the platform.

AEW and HBO Max announced a streaming deal for Tony Khan’s flagship shows last year, and word then was that AEW PPV events would be on the platform in the near future, along with archives. Now all AEW PPV shows will air on HBO Max with no commercials, beginning with All Out.

All Out pre-orders begin on Friday, and HBO Max subscribers in the United States will be able to buy the PPV for an exclusive price of $39.99. After the event, replays will be available to purchasers for six months. Khan took to X today to tout the deal with excitement.

“HBO Max will stream AEW PPV shows LIVE starting very soon: #AEWAllOut Saturday Afternoon, 9/20 3pm ET/Noon PT ! All HBO Max subscribers can now purchase AEW ppv shows at an exclusive low price point: $39.99! See you on TBS + HBO Max for Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite, TONIGHT!,” wrote Tony Khan.

AEW will continue its residency at the former ECW Arena with tonight’s Dynamite. Collision will then air live on Saturday, and the 2300 Arena residency will wrap with Dynamite on September 10 and Collision tapings on September 11. Tony Khan has been present for the tapings, his first time at the legendary venue since he was a teenager.
