WWE Officially Signs Veteran Sports Announcer Joe Tessitore

In an update to our last post, WWE has officially announced the signing of veteran sports announcer Joe Tessitore!

In a press release issued on WWE’s website, the company announced today that Tessitore will become a play-by-play broadcaster this summer, alongside Corey Graves and Wade Barrett.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque expressed his excitement over Tessitore’s signing in a statement within the press release.

“Whether it’s a world title fight that’s got the globe buzzing or a college football rivalry that’s grabbed the nation’s attention, Joe’s voice provides that big event feel each time he is behind the microphone. We’re excited for Joe to join legendary WWE broadcaster Michael Cole and our esteemed announce team, bringing his signature energy and meticulous preparation to our WWE telecasts each week.”

The press release also featured comments from Tessitore himself who admitted it was his honor and privilege to join WWE’s announce team and recalled feeling WWE’s unique energy when he attended WrestleMania XL earlier this year.

“It’s an honor to be a part of WWE. The recent success and trajectory are undeniable. Being there at WrestleMania XL, one could feel it – from Cody, Seth, Roman and The Rock, to creative and production, these are some of the very best storytellers in TV.

Corey and Wade are absolute stars and it is my privilege to join their team. Pat and Cole are just magical together and Cole is the greatest to ever sit in that chair. As a lifelong viewer, I’m humbled to join this team and to serve our fans.”

Major sports announcer Joe Tessitore is said to be joining WWE imminently!

The New York Post reports that Tessitore will be joining the company as an announcer and is set to lead a three-man commentary team with Corey Graves and Wade Barrett starting this summer.

The move will not affect the company’s other main commentary team of Michael Cole and Pat McAfee, who will reportedly remain as a duo. However, it’s unclear if the respective teams will remain on their current brands when Tessitore is added to the fold.

Alongside his new WWE duties, Tessitore will continue his broadcasting duties with ESPN and ABC. The report also notes he has a great relationship with Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque as well as WWE President Nick Khan, whom Tessitore was his first media client back when Khan was an agent.

Tony Khan & AEW Are "Hard To Deal With", Claims Major Promoter

tony Khan speaking at AEW WrestleDream 2023

AAA promoter Konnan has hit out at both Tony Khan and AEW for being “hard to deal with”, detailing some backstage issues he’s had with the AEW President!

Speaking on a recent episode of Keepin it 100, Konnan discussed how AEW pulling talent from various AAA shows in the past led to a rift between himself and Tony Khan. He went on to recall an incident that occurred after Khan pulled Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo from AAA Nocho de Campeones 2022.

In a podcast around that time, the WCW veteran admitted to being confused as to why Melo had to be pulled from the show to replace “some chick” who had contracted COVID-19 when AEW has many other female talents on its roster.

Khan was supposedly furious at Konnan for referring to the unknown talent as “some chick” which Konnan claims he used as he knew Khan would not want the talent publicly named.

“Tony got really, really mad about this and I can’t even believe he got mad.”

“I was thinking to myself, you’ve got so many girls but you’re going to use her.. okay. And then I said on the podcast, I go ‘some chick got (COVID)’ because I’m pretty sure he didn’t want me to say the name. And when he saw me, he goes, ‘What do you mean some chick?’ Like, oh give me a break, dude. So, would you rather have had me say the name?’”

Later, Konnan claimed that AAA no longer needed its working relationship with AEW and claimed that the company, and Tony Khan by proxy, were difficult to work with. He went on to speculate about the company’s current relationship with AAA’s rival CMLL.

“We’ve been selling out everywhere. We don’t even need AEW, and they’re expensive and it’s hard to deal with them because they pull ’em out at the last minute. I see they haven’t had that problem with Arena Mexico. Whether he’s trying to stick it up… because I don’t put over his thing or he’s just having a good business relationship and it’s easier to work with them, I have no idea.”
