Tony Khan does not want to address Ricochet’s future at this time.
The wrestling world was surprised on June 8th when it was reported that the former United States Champion had given his notice to WWE and would not be signing a new contract during a time when talent renewing their deals with the company was pretty much guaranteed.
With AEW being the second-biggest promotion in the United States and where a lot of former WWE stars have gone on to sign with such as Bryan Danielson, Toni Storm and Adam Cole, many are predicting that it is only a matter of time before the high-flyer becomes All Elite and once again faces off against Will Ospreay.
While being interviewed by Scott Fishman of TV Insider, the future of the Intercontinental Champion came up in conversation. With Ricochet not yet a free agent, Khan elected to provide an effective no comment on the matter:
If it’s okay, I’d rather not get into wrestlers that still work for someone else.
Although AEW appears to be the likely location for Ricochet in the near future, one TNA star hopes that he will sign with the Nashville-based promotion instead.
Recently Dave Meltzer reported that AEW has had internal talks about signing Ricochet.
Tony Khan Facing Contract Negotiation Issues In AEW
While there was a point in time when WWE was releasing multiple wrestlers that would eventually make their way over to AEW, the past year has seen the opposite occur with wrestlers such as Jade Cargill, Shawn Spears and Ethan Page all choosing to let their contracts expire and sign with the rival promotion. This trend could continue as another AEW star is approaching the end of their contract and WWE have significant interest.
According to a new report, two ex-WWE stars are set for an upcoming episode of Collision.
