“Tony Khan Is Forgetting I’m A Former WWE Champion”: Jinder Mahal Looks Back On Social Media Tirade

Jinder Mahal has commented on a WWE segment that made Tony Khan very angry.

Following an attack by The Rock on New Year’s Day, Mahal was irate and demanded respect. Targeting the top star on the Raw brand, the Modern Day Maharaja challenged World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins to a title shot, which was granted by The Visionary. While many ironically cheered on Mahal and accepted this would be a foregone conclusion, Khan was not happy.

Venting his feelings on social media, Tony Khan called out the double standard as Mahal had been granted a title shot. The double standard was that fans were not criticising Mahal for being a number one contender despite his poor win/loss record but fans did take issue with Hook being the number one contender to Samoa Joe’s AEW World Championship.

Social media blew up as a result, with many mocking Khan and showcasing their support for the former World Champion. Jinder Mahal would also join in on the action, posting his own humorous response.

Speaking on The Gorilla Position podcast, Mahal was asked about Khan’s comments. Mahal noted that Kahn was oblivious to his previous accolades and his previous accomplishments mean that he can be granted a title shot at any time:

“I think Tony Khan is forgetting I’m the Modern Day Maharaja, former WWE Champion, and being a former WWE Champion, I should be number one contender anytime I want. The Royal Rumble happened a week after that. If you notice, I wasn’t in it because I didn’t feel there was a need. The Modern Day Maharaja wants a title match, he can just get one. It’s okay. Overall, it’s great. It caused a lot of buzz, and I appreciate the competition because it makes everybody better,”

In regards to Tony Khan, the President of AEW recently discussed the possibility of there being a Hall of Fame in All Elite Wrestling.
