On the February 17th episode of AEW Rampage, it was revealed that Tony Khan would be appearing on Dynamite to make an “important announcement.”
No further details about Khan’s appearance were given sending the rumour mill into overdrive.
Much of the speculation centres around the possibility of some kind of new show or event. During a recent interview, Khan was asked about the possibility of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2 and reiterated that he has a great relationship with NJPW, hinting that another show could be on the way.
AEW also made an interesting new trademark filing, which could also point toward the debut of a new show.
Unsurprisingly, in conversation with the Phoenix New Times ahead of Dynamite the AEW President was giving little away. Khan began by saying that the announcement will be something that’s “great” for the company.
“Hah. Well, I can’t tell you right now, but it’s something I’m very excited about and it’s great for the company,”
When asked if it was connected to a second AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event Khan would only say that it’s an “exciting development” for AEW.
“There are a lot of exciting things in the near future for AEW. All I can say is we have an important announcement coming at this show in Phoenix. And it’s an exciting development for the company, and I’m excited to share it with the fans in Phoenix and all over the world.”

With AEW Revolution just around the corner, the card is beginning to take shape. It has already been confirmed that Bryan Danielson will challenge for the AEW World Title in an Ironman Match, and Jon Moxley and Hangman Adam Page look to end their feud in a Texas Death Match.
