Tony Khan Hints At More AEW Signings: “I Plan To Be Very Active In Free Agency”

Tony Khan Hints At More AEW Signings:

Tony Khan is looking to expand his roster even further.

With 3 weekly AEW shows taking place and the addition of Ring of Honor, the number of wrestlers employed by Khan is already at a substantial number. Some would argue that the roster is large enough as it is, but according to Khan’s comments on the Worlds End media call, fans should expect some shock debuts in the near future, specifically in the women’s division:

“So, so many great names, so many great fights happening in the women’s division, which is in, I think, the strongest place it’s been – and imagine how much better it’s going to get because I plan to be very active in free agency.”

At one point it seemed inevitable that the biggest free agent in women’s wrestling, Mercedes Mone, would become All Elite due to the star being spotted in the crowd at All In back in August. However, as Mone edges closer to a return from injury, no further hints have taken place regarding The CEO making a surprise debut on AEW programming.

Although this will create more opportunities for wrestlers to be presented on a bigger stage, others will inevitably miss out. With one women’s match on Dynamite each week and only championship matches being booked for pay-per-views, spots will be more limited than ever. Former Women’s Champion Britt Baker recently expressed her frustrations on the matter on social media, stating that she has had no promo time on Dynamite in 2023.

Tony Khan Gives Media Rights Update

The biggest obstacle for AEW to overcome in 2024 will be to find a network to broadcast weekly programming for the next 5 years, as there are no guarantees that Warner Bros. Discovery will renew their current agreement. Tony Khan addressed this at the start of the media call, believing that there would be many suitors to express their interest in AEW.
