Tony Khan would love to see this AEW star return to the ring soon.
On the April 24th episode of Dynamite, Powerhouse Hobbs took on Jon Moxley in an attempt to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Unfortunately, Hobbs suffered a knee injury in the match which resulted in the contest being brought to an end earlier than expected.
After reports that Hobbs was injured and would likely need surgery, the star admitted on social media that he was angry and disappointed. In mid-May, Hobbs posted an update on his recovery, indicating that he was three weeks post-op after having his patellar tendon repaired.
“We’re Hoping To Get Powerhouse Hobbs Back Soon” – Tony Khan
Speaking in a media call ahead of All Out, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Hobbs and when the star might be able to return to the ring. Khan admitted that it would be some time before Hobbs is able to return while praising the star as a valuable member of the AEW roster.
“Will Hobbs has been visiting the doctors. He was injured wrestling against Jon Moxley in April. It’s been several months of Hobbs being out. We’re hoping to get him back soon, but I think there is still some time he needs for the recovery.
Powerhouse Hobbs is a huge part of AEW and has been a great champion. We look forward to getting Will Hobbs back. I can’t say the exact date, but he’s somebody in our plans that we want to get going again soon. It’s been nice to see him backstage a couple of times lately. This wasn’t the first time we’ve seen him, which is a good thing that he keeps coming in for check ups and is making good progress.”
