Following the explosive news on this week’s AEW Dynamite that a “Hall-of-Fame worthy” wrestler will sign with All Elite Wrestling at Revolution, the company’s CEO, Tony Khan, has dropped a major hint with regards to the identity of the star.
Speaking with David LaGreca and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, Khan would say that AEW’s impending new signing is “one of his favourite wrestlers of all time” – tipping the unnamed star to “do great things” for the company.
“It’s one of my all-time favourite wrestlers. I’m very excited about it. I am fired up. I’ll say one thing, it’s one of my all-time favourite wrestlers. I tipped the gender on Unrestricted. It’s a male. He’s coming in. He’s going to do great things for us. He’s committed, he’s going to sign a contract on Sunday, on pay-per-view, and we’re going to have all these great matches and we’ll have this big news coming out of the show. Mark, I know you’ll be really excited. I think it’s going to be really cool.”

Paul Wight marked his arrival on Dynamite by breaking the news that there will be a new talent signing at Revolution, which was confirmed on AEW Unrestricted.
“Just so you know that I’m taking my colour commentating job seriously Tony, you’re not the only one that gets the big scoops buddy. I have the biggest scoop ever! This Sunday at [Revolution], AEW is going to hire – put in contract – a Hall of Fame worthy talent that is a huge surprise and a huge asset to AEW. Yeah, but listen: It’s not who you think. But this Sunday, you’re gonna find out who it is and I want you to know I knew who it was first. Tune in to find out who we get!”
While CM Punk and Batista have seemingly ruled themselves out publicly, the anticipating is only continuing to rise ahead of the event as speculation reaches fever pitch. Meanwhile, Inside The Ropes has compiled a list of possible names that could be making their AEW debut on Sunday, March 7th.
Interestingly, two of the names making the rounds are Kurt Angle and Christian. The former has recently joined AdFreeShows, which was substantially represented through guest appearances on Dynamite, while the latter definitely has one supporter in AEW – in a former AEW Champion. While speaking with Inside The Ropes recently, Jon Moxley named Christian as the one signing he would love AEW to make. If Captain Charisma were to make the switch while being heralded as a Hall of Fame-worthy talent, it might be seen as a subtle jab towards WWE who have yet to answer the many, many calls to put the former Brood man into their own Hall of Fame.
“I’ll tell you, a guy I’d like to see here is Christian. I don’t know if that was a one-off for him in the Royal Rumble but he looked frigging good to me, looked like he was in great shape, he looked sharp, man. I tell you, he’s one of the guys that’s – the wrestlers know it more so than anybody – Christian is so good. Like, his brain and his execution, and his mind for wrestling is just like next-level.”
AEW Revolution takes place on March 7th. Viewers outside the United States can watch the pay-per-view via Fite TV.
