Tony Khan has given the strongest indication yet that the AEW roster could be expanding even further revealing that a “dream signing” is on the way.
2021 was a year of huge expansion for AEW with the addition of Rampage and Dark: Elevation, as well as numerous high profile talents such as Bryan Danielson and CM Punk.
Speaking towards the end of the year, AEW President Tony Khan had hinted that even more new names could be on the horizon, commenting that he wanted to “remain active” in signing great wrestlers. Despite this, Khan later suggested that it was time for him to be “more discerning” when it comes to signing new talent.
Ahead of AEW Dynamite making it’s debut on TBS on January 5th, Khan has now dropped more than a little hint that a new star could be arriving in the near future.
Speaking to Josh Martinez of Z100, Khan said that a “dream signing” would be arriving “pretty soon.”
“There is [a dream signing]. They are in North America and they’re coming. Pretty soon. It’s going to be awesome and I’m excited,”
In recent weeks the AEW roster has continued to grow with the additions of Kyle O’Reilly and Mercedes Martinez. It hasAEW also been reported that Brody King has signed with the promotion, although he is yet to debut.
It has already been announced that the first Dynamite on TBS will feature a huge rematch for the AEW World Championship. After wrestling to a 60-minute draw at Winter is Coming, Hangman Adam Page and Bryan Danielson will meet one more time with the gold on the line. Although this time, there will be three judges present at ring-side should the bout go the distance.
Jade Cargill and Ruby Soho will also square off to crown the first-ever TBS Champion, while Lucha Bros will defend the AEW Tag Team Championships against Jurassic Express.
