AEW President Tony Khan has discussed if he had any interest in making Kevin Owens All Elite before the Canadian star inked a new seven-figure deal with WWE.
The subject of Kevin Owens’ contract status had been a hot topic in the wrestling world in recent months. It emerged that the former WWE Universal Champion’s current deal with WWE was due to end on January 31st, 2022 with many wondering if he was set to follow the likes of Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson to AEW.
Answers emerged in December when it was reported that Owens had signed a three-year deal with WWE that was said to be worth in the region of two to three million dollars per year to Owens.
In conversation with CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri Tony Khan discussed his interest in Kevin Owens and had some kind words for the former Ring Of Honor standout as well:
“I would have been interested in that. He’s a great wrestler. I think he ended up signing for what I believe is probably a lot of money. I think that’s great and good for him. We have a lot of people spotlighted here and he’s great. Any company he goes to he’ll be a great wrestler for them.”
While Owens might not be heading to the land of AEW anytime soon, another NXT alumni has made the jump with former NXT Tag Team Champion Kyle O’Reilly making his debut for the company on AEW Dynamite.
