Tony Khan has revealed the brains behind the partnership between AEW and Impact Wrestling. The AEW President gives full credit to Kenny Omega. Appearing on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast, the AEW President opened up on a lot of topics.
Answering a question from Paquette about the relationship between Khan’s AEW and Impact Wrestling, Khan said:
“It was Kenny’s idea.He asked me about it and I love good ideas.I don’t do every idea, I try not to do the bad ones…This was something Kenny brought up that I thought was a great idea.He puta lot of time and thought into it and I give one hundred percent of the credit to Kenny.”
Khan then went on to give his insight on what may have laid behind Omega’s plan for the partnership.Including Omega’s friendship with Impact executive Don Callis:
“He and Don Callis have a really close relationship and I think that’s what was behind it.But I also think Kenny believed Don would be a very powerful advocate for him.He could fill the role of a very, very strong heel manager for Kenny as the top heel in the territory and really, I think, the top heel in wrestling right now.I think that’s something people wanted to see.”
The partnership between AEW and Impact has seen Kenny reunite with the Good Brothers tag team of Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson. The trio headlined Impact’s Hard to Kill event where Kenny Omega pinned Impact World Champion Rich Swann.
The animosity between the two companies has also seen Private Party become the number one contenders to the Impact Tag Team Championships.
The biggest revelation to come from Khan’s conversation came when he and Paquette divulged that former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley (Paquette’s husband) is currently writing a book.
