Tony Khan gave little away as he addressed the media following AEW All In.
Shortly after AEW All In went on the air, it was reported there had been a physical altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry.
As reported by multiple outlets, Punk and Perry got into a confrontation just moments before Punk walked through the curtain to face Samoa Joe. The incident came after Perry took a shot at Punk during his pre-show match with Hook.
Just before taking a suplex on a limo, Perry said into the camera “real glass, cry me a river,” a reference to a backstage disagreement with Punk where the veteran tried to advise Perry against using real glass in a segment. It was reported that Jack Perry “threw a temper tantrum” at being told the spot was dangerous. Furthermore, it was claimed that Perry had one eye on getting injured so he could take some time off.
It’s been reported there was some shoving and claims that Perry ended up in a chokehold after confronting Punk. These same reports noted that Jack Perry had been sent home.
At the post-All In press scrum, Tony Khan began by addressing the incident before questions began. Khan confirmed there had been an incident, but said he wouldn’t be commenting beyond that.
“I can’t comment on it at this time beyond what I’m about to say, yes, there was an incident backstage before we went live on toinight’s show. We’re investigating it and until I learn more about what happened I can’t really address it at this time. So I can’t comment, but I did want to be honest with you and tell you that is the case.”
In recent news, Josh Barnett has offered his services to Tony Khan.
Tony Khan Celebrates Record Attendance
One thing Khan did want to talk about is the record-breaking attendance of more than 81,000 fans. The AEW boss repeated what had been said on the broadcast about the all-time pro wrestling record.
“What I can talk about, what is first and foremost from a wreslting standpoint tonight, this is a historic occasion. Tonight’s attendance was 81,035 paid fans, over 81,000 paid that makes the largest paid attendance in the history of the pro wrestling business.”
It’s also been confirmed that AEW will return to Wembley in August 2024.
