Tony Khan Compares AEW Shows To Iconic Film Franchise

Tony Khan has found a unique way of describing the highs and lows of recent AEW shows.

Back at All Out 2021, The American Dragon capped off a night of surprises and was announced as the newest member of the AEW roster. In the 3 years that followed, Danielson has had many critically acclaimed matches, headlined All In and won the World Championship.

While Danielson may have envisioned how his third anniversary with the company would have gone, neither he nor the fans could have predicted what happened in Chicago as the World Champion was suffocated with a plastic bag by former friend Jon Moxley.

While some may have expected that the brutality could not have gotten any worse, the cage match between Swerve Strickland and Adam Page turned the violence up even further to an uncomfortable level.

Discussing the brutal Bryan Danielson storyline while appearing on Busted Open Radio, Khan noted that in 2 weeks Danielson had one of the best and worst nights of his life:

“To talk about Bryan Danielson for a moment and the three-year anniversary—and like I said—to go from All In, which was one of the greatest moments of my life, to go to All Out, which was, I think, the juxtaposition…to say that for Bryan, I think All In was one of the great moments of his life, and then All Out probably one of the worst.”

Comparing the storyline to pop culture, Khan noted that the two shows had a similar vibe to the first 2 Star Wars movies:

“I mean, you know, [for] Star Wars people, it’s New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Um, but they were very different things, but they were both amazing, and they go so well together.

All In and All Out stand as two of our greatest pay-per-views, and I’m very excited going into WrestleDream about what’s happening in AEW. The future of the AEW World Championship is yet to be determined, but at Grand Slam, the future of AEW is at stake, and so much is on the line.”

Tony Khan Excited For The Future

Although Khan has been very happy with how the shows have played out, fans are still desperate to hear official confirmation regarding the next phase of media rights. During the same interview, Tony Khan discussed the ongoing reports and how he feels the future is bright.

While Tony Khan has booked some extreme matches, a champion in NJPW believes his idea is a step too far.
