Tony Khan Comments On Media Rights After AEW Goes Off Air

Tony Khan Addresses Status Of Absent AEW Star

Tony Khan appeared after AEW went off air last night to provide an update on the ongoing media rights negotiations.

The future of AEW has been the topic of conversation in recent months, with Tony Khan right in the thick of it. AEW’s media rights with WBD (Warner Bros Discovery) are set to expire at the end of this year, meaning the promotion’s future distribution is currently undecided. However, after Tony Khan’s statement last night, it seems a final deal is coming very soon.

After the September 6 episodes of AEW Collision and Rampage came to a close, Khan appeared on the entrance ramp to address the Chicago crowd:

“I feel pretty good to say AEW on TBS and TNT I think is here to stay!”

Tony Khan’s announcement arrives in the lead up to AEW All Out this weekend, one of the companies biggest events of the year. On the All Out media call earlier this week, Khan shed some light on how tricky media rights deals can be to manage, describing it as “a very long and tenuous process”. “It can be long to figure out a contract for one person, one player, one athlete,” Khan explained. “Imagine an entire league?”. However, he concluded that, overall, it is often “a good process to do”.

In the same media call, Khan expressed how proud he was of AEW’s success, and showed his optimism for the future by describing AEW as “the second most profitable wrestling promotion of all time”.

Top AEW Star Hails Tony Khan As “An Amazing Boss”

A current AEW title-holder has heaped praise on Tony Khan recently, describing him as an “amazing boss”. The star, who is booked for a title defense at All Out, said it is Khan’s “infectious passion” that makes him such an effective leader.

According to a new report, an insight into the AEW new deal has been given.
