Tony Khan has put to rest swirling rumours about Ricky Starks‘ future with the company, confirming that the talented wrestler remains under contract with AEW.
This statement comes in response to growing fan speculation about Starks’ status, given his noticeable absence from AEW programming in recent months. Starks, a former AEW champion and fan favourite, hasn’t been seen in action since the March 30th episode of AEW Collision. In that appearance, Starks and his tag team partner Big Bill suffered a defeat against Top Flight in the AEW Tag Team Title tournament.
The extended hiatus has led to widespread discussion among the AEW faithful about Starks’ future with the promotion. Addressing these concerns during the recent AEW All In media call, Tony Khan offered a clear and positive assessment of Starks’ standing within the company. When questioned by Rick Ucchino of Sports Illustrated about Starks’ status, Khan stated:
Ricky has been a great star in AEW, been a champion here, and has had great matches here. I think very highly of Ricky. He’s somebody that has been here for several years and he’s under contract in AEW. He’s a well-regarded wrestler here in AEW.
Khan’s words not only confirm Starks’ continued association with AEW but also highlight the high esteem in which he is held by the company’s leadership. However, while Khan’s statement provides clarity on Starks’ employment status, it leaves unanswered questions about when fans might see the popular performer back in the ring. As of now, there’s no official word on Starks’ return to AEW television.
