Tony Khan Claims WWE Is Spreading Misinformation About AEW

Tony Khan has issued a rumour and speculation surrounding AEW, which he believes that WWE are responsible for.

As All Elite Wrestling continued to build to its biggest show of the year with All In at Wembley Stadium, the topic of media rights continues to be in the back of many fans’ minds as the current deal with Warner Bros. Discovery is fast approaching its end. With no deal yet to be reached, reports of WBD undergoing cost-cutting measures and the network still looking to secure the NBA TV rights with legal action being discussed, AEW’s future still looks uncertain despite Tony Khan remaining positive on the subject.

In what was seemingly a positive update by SEScoops, AEW and WBD had an agreement “in principle” regarding an extension in media rights, with the additional good news being that content from the promotion was spotted on the streaming platform MAX on accounts internationally. However, within a few days, a follow-up report stated that no agreement was in place and the exclusive negotiating window was running out.

“It’s None Of Their Business”: Tony Khan Hits Back At WWE

During the media call for ROH Death Before Dishonor, Khan was once again asked about the media rights negotiations and if talks had progressed even further. While Khan began with a similar answer to what many have heard in the past, the AEW President gave some follow-up comments to address the misinformation that has been circulating:

“I don’t usually do this, but since Brandon brought it up and asked. I had a major member of the wrestling media mention to me yesterday, WWE is telling people that, and I don’t know why WWE is telling people about our media rights deal. I don’t know whether it’s any of their business.

I don’t really understand why WWE PR calls people and talks about my business. WWE PR is telling people that the deal is done and that the deal is done at the same level that it was going to be our previous deal. That’s not the case. I don’t know why WWE PR and why major wrestling media members, who are very credible and never lied to me, I don’t know why they are telling people that. It’s none of their business.

I think WWE PR really gets involved in a lot of things they shouldn’t get involved in. I can tell you that is very untrue. When we make a deal for AEW, it’s going to be a great deal with a big increase over what we’ve been doing. We’re in a really good position and have been doing great business here despite what they’re trying to do to us. Thanks.”

In a previous interview, Tony Khan named his favourite AEW matches.
